PASSERELLES NUMERIQUES (Digital Bridges) is a French NGO established in 2005. Its advocacy is to provide IT education and job opportunities to the most underprivileged youngsters.
The first training center was launched in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2005, offering training in Systems and Network Administration (SNA). Today, there are more than 150 students that graduate in Phnom Penh every year and 90% of them get a qualified job within two months after graduation. Their average wages are 3 to 4 times the average wage of Cambodia. With this success, Passerelles numériques decided to expand to other countries in Asia and selected the Philippines and Vietnam, where similar projects were launched.
In the Philippines, Passerelles numériques launched its project in 2009. It has its own student center in Cebu City where students from the Visayas and Mindanao are housed. These students are selected based o n performance, motivation and social background. There are 109 students who are currently enrolled in the program, and the first batch of 24 students will graduate in next March 2012.
They follow a 3-year training at the University of San Carlos (USC), divided into two main parts:
- 3 semesters of academic training at USC, including a common semester before they specialize in System and Network or Software Development;
- 3 semesters of Dual Training System (DTS), a specific type of internship in which the trainees spend 5 days a week in the company and 1 day in school
In June 2012, 90 new students will join the PN training, and we are looking for professionals, willing to share their knowledge to underprivileged students, to join the Computer Engineering Department of the University San Carlos as IT teacher, dedicated to the Passerelles numériques training program, with full time or part-time contract dependin g on subjects and availability of the applicant. Having a previous experience in teaching is not a requirement, but relevant experiences in companies are mandatory.

Job Description:
We are looking for experienced professional, willing to share his/her experience and knowledge in at least one of the following subject:
- Network Administration and Security
- System Administration (Linux and/or Windows)
- Computer Hardware
- Object-oriented Programming (Java, .NET)
- Web programming (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, ASP)
- Programming (Java, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, .NET)
- DataBase
- Software Testing
Role and main responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver classes, with a special focus on practical skills
- Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experi ences
- Prepare, organize and correct evaluations
- Prepare, assign and correct homework
- Pay special attention to weak students and make them able to follow classes and reach the training objectives
- Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment
- Weekly report on strengths and weaknesses/difficulties of students, evolution of the courses with the defined program, participation and behavior of students during classes and practical assignments
- Share lecture and practical materials with collaborators
- Dual reporting to Passerelles numériques' Training Manager and University San Carlos' CompE Department Chair
- Keep abreast with new technologies, Philippines IT market evolution and training methods
- Participate actively in the curriculum evolution to match IT market needs and to improve pedagogy
- Participate to Passerelles numériques social mission, understand and carry our Values
Qualification and pre-requisites:
- Certificate or Bachelor Degree holder in IT Course
- Willing to help underprivileged students
- Master at least one of the skills described previously
- At least 1 year of relevant experience
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Good pedagogic practice
- Teaching experience or a keen interest to develop pedagogy skills
