SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in the technical review of business requirements and assists in developing the technical requirements and design for system development projects.
- Produces quality software components and services along defined engineering guidelines and within committed timeframe.
- Ensures software adheres to approved design standards and patterns.
- Assures quality and testability through unit testing and continuous integration practices.
- Regularly measures and tests performance of individual and integrated software components and services.
- Conducts and is subject to regular code and quality reviews with software engineering peers in both Product Development and Quality Assurance.
- This may include pair programming practices.
- Actively produces and maintains design and engineering artifacts and code-level documentation.
- Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Communication:
- Requirement Specifications, Use Cases, User Stories/Epics, and System Metaphors.
Software Design:
- Design Patterns, Object Orientation, Service Composition, Isolation Boundaries, Relational Databases, Caching, etc. Design principles for performance, scalability, and operational sustainability.
Software Engineering:
- Code instrumentation, advanced debugging and troubleshooting skills a must. Knowledge of standard architectural and design patterns especially n-tier architecture and DDD.
Languages and Tools:
- Microsoft .NET 1.x/2.0/3.x/4.0 with C# (primary) using Visual Studio (v2008/2010).
- Structured Query Language (SQL) with Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
- Software Quality and Lifecycle: Unit Testing/Test-driven Development, Peer Code Reviews, - Source Control Management with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (2008/2010) or Subversion, Automated Build and Release using MSBuild/TeamBuild, and Automated Quality Verification.
Technologies and Frameworks:
- ASP .NET Web Forms and MVC, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), SSRS(Sql Server Reporting Services), LINQ2SQL, ORM knowledge, strong front-end web skills, Preferred knowledge of javascript frameworks (e.g. JQuery).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years' experience with .NET and C# using Visual Studio.
- At least 2 years' experience with version control systems.
- At least 2 years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
- 1 years' experience with Windows Communication Foundation.
- Some experience with Agile development methodologies.
- At least 2 years ASP.NET (Web forms) experience.
